Privacy Policy
QR scanning, decoding, QR Studio generation and design checks, History processing, CSV export, downloads, and printing happen locally on your device. Just QR Me does not send scanned content, QR Studio fields, selected logos, decoded or generated QR values, History, or settings to the developer or to a developer-controlled server.
Information the extension handles
Just QR Me handles only the information needed to scan or generate QR codes and provide its user-facing features:
- Current-tab content: visible page screenshots, page images, and image source URLs when you explicitly start a Page or Snip scan.
- Current link: the active tab URL only when you explicitly choose Link.
- User-provided images: images you choose, drop, or paste into the extension.
- QR Studio fields: information you enter to create a website, plain text, phone, SMS, email, Wi-Fi, contact, or location QR code. Depending on the type you choose, this can include phone numbers, email addresses, message text, Wi-Fi credentials, names, contact details, website addresses, and geographic coordinates.
- Optional QR Studio logos: a PNG, JPG, or WebP image you select to place in the center of a generated QR code.
- Scanned and generated results: decoded or generated QR values, locally generated thumbnails, optional style information and logos, and timestamps.
- Preferences: selected font, font size, popup width, bold setting, high-contrast setting, and language choice.
How information is used
The extension uses this information only to find and decode QR codes; create and locally check static QR designs; add colors, module styles, and an optional center logo; copy results to your clipboard; open links you select; display recent History; export History items to CSV; download QR files as PNG or SVG; rebuild and print a QR from a result you select; and remember your interface preferences.
Local processing and storage
QR scanning, decoding, current-link QR generation, QR Studio generation and design checks, QR rebuilding, CSV export, and PNG or SVG creation occur inside the extension on your device. The Link action reads the active tab URL only after you choose Link and does not contact that website, the developer, or a third-party server to generate the QR.
QR Studio fields are processed on your device while you build a QR code. They are added to local History only when you choose Save to History. A selected logo stays on your device and is stored with the result only when you save that styled QR code to History. QR Studio does not upload fields, logos, or generated designs for validation or generation.
CSV, PNG, and SVG files are created only after you choose a download action. The extension passes the resulting file to Chrome's download system and does not upload it or retain an additional cloud copy.
Up to 50 recent decoded or generated results, thumbnails, and any styles or logos saved with those results are stored with chrome.storage.local. A selected result and its print or style information are passed temporarily to the extension's print page with chrome.storage.session. The extension does not use an account, cloud sync, analytics, telemetry, or a remote database.
When scanning an image tab or a full-resolution image already referenced by the current page, the extension may request that image directly from its existing source URL. The request goes to the website hosting that resource and is used only to complete the scan initiated by you. Scanned content and decoded results are not sent to the developer.
Sharing and selling
Just QR Me does not sell user data. The extension does not share user data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties. User data is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's QR features. Information voluntarily submitted through the separate support form is handled as described in the Contact section below.
Clipboard access
After a scan you initiate, the first decoded result is written to the system clipboard. You can also choose Copy from a result or History card. The extension handles an image from the clipboard only when you intentionally paste that image into the extension.
Deleting your data
Select Clear in the History view to remove saved decoded and generated results, including styles and logos stored with them. Removing the extension also removes its extension-local storage from Chrome. Files you intentionally downloaded remain in your chosen download location until you delete them.
External links
The extension can open a decoded or locally generated link at your request. It also includes an optional Buy Me a Coffee link. Once you open an external website, that website's privacy policy and practices apply. Just QR Me does not receive payment or financial information from Buy Me a Coffee.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Just QR Me's use of information obtained through Chrome permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide or improve the extension's single-purpose, user-facing QR scanning, QR creation and styling, History, export, download, and printing features.
Changes to this policy
If the extension's data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the new practices are introduced.
